If you have any Second Language Learners (SLLs) among your pupils, you can try to carefully observe them and ask yourself the following questions:

• Which stage(s) of ESLA might they be in?
  
• Do they interact with their classmates?
  
• How long have they been immersed in their second language for?
  
• What language(s) do they speak at home?
  
• What are their main linguistic weaknesses (e.g. vocabulary)? What could be done to strengthen their L2 skills?
